My Fitness Pal
Did you know that I don't like journaling? True story, real life, as my son would say. I always get busy or forget or the dog ate my journal or (insert excuse). This time though, I'm sticking with it so far. There are two reasons I think. 1) My coach has access to My Fitness Pal food journal so I better had keep it up. 2) I use it as tool. If I take week 3 as an example, I'm still skewing more to a higher percent of fat. There are a couple of reasons for that. 1) It's hard not to think like I'm following Paleo. Higher fat and higher protein will keep you satisfied. In looking at my daily pie charts, I've realized that I need to simmer down on the fats. I wouldn't have recognized this unless I was tracking my macros. So yay me. I also purchased one month of premium service from MFP so that I can put in my actual macro targets and not just percentages. It's all about using the tools and analyzing information (and I can analyze)!
My workouts have been awesome! I am totally evangelical when it comes to the barbell. There's also this project out there called The Barbell Project and its aim is to make women feel more comfortable with the barbell because strong women are empowered women. Y'all. That is the truth! I still need to work on my form, but I am totally digging the barbell. And in general, I feel so much stronger than I did three weeks ago.
Pin it Girl
One motivational technique for me is to scan pinterest. I've created a Figure It Out board, where I pin everything from suits I like to tips and tricks and other good stuff.
One of the tips I read was to practice your walk and poses in a competition bikini because it's more like being on stage. I figure that though I'll be better than I am today, my physique may not win any awards, but...I can control how comfortable I am in the suit walking and posing. So...I might have purchased this suit from Etsy. She was also having a sale so it was a great deal! I'll be practicing in this suit in the comfort of my own home. But it's another form of motivation. I can't tell y'all how excited I am for this. I know it's gonna be hard, but it's a big goal and I'm looking forward to seeing how far I get.
Until next time, let's see what I can figure out in week 4!
I firmly believe that fitness and well being is a journey. I love strength training and running. I tend to eat clean, and I'm currently practicing flexible dieting (IIFYM)!
