Okay. I have been neglecting the blog but I have been active. I don't know why, but I felt like I wanted to blog today. But I don't want this to be a year-in-review kind of post. I actually want to write about my first year running in a separate post. I did however want to highlight a few recent items I'm proud of (in no particular order) and what I see on the horizon.
In October, I signed up to be a Beachbody coach because I wanted to have the tools at my disposal to help others. I did a youtube video about it! Check it out!
Recently, I've had a non-scale victory where I bought some clothes in a smaller size. That's a huge milestone for me! Now, it might be vanity sizing and I'm not in that size full time, but that's okay, it's indicative of where I want to be. Check out this picture of my NSV!
I didn't feel like I was going to die as I finished it! I started to cry when I saw the stadium, but then my recently diagnosed pre-pre-asthmatic and I started having trouble breathing, I decided that wasn't too wise and dried up those tears of joy.
I wanted to provide another channel for all of my hobbies (generally fitness and data viz), so I decided to get on YouTube. Here's a recent example of one of my fitness posts. It's an emerging platform for me, so if I could ask for a favor and get you to subscribe, I would be really grateful!
I have been posting to Instagram like a fool and now that I'm on it, I love it! Check out what I post by following me @emily1852. I also have a facebook page, Wannabe Awesome Me! I usually post daily and I think of it as a bite size blog. I've really started to love social media and I love the immediacy and engagement with people. So look for me on Facebook too! This is my current profile picture! I recreated a photo I saw in a fashion magazine last year and love, Love, LOVE how it turned out.
I've got a few big things happening in 2015 that I'm super excited about. The first is actually a series of virtual races for Jost Running's Winter 2015 Revolution Series. I figured with a website called Wannabe Awesome Me, I had to get a medal that says I'm here to be awesome (which means I have to run a HM)!
I'm also signed up for Disney Princess Half Marathon!! Yay!! I'm going to dress as Pocahontas since my daughter watches it on repeat! And the other thing that I'm excited about is that I'm starting online personal training with TeamVIP (Very Impressive Physique). I wanted some additional accountability. I'm not trying to look like some of the figure or bikini competitors, but I am trying to have the best body that I can reasonably achieve. I'm a busy mom, I love sweets and foods, I'm human. I know it's a stretch goal for me, but that's okay. Even if I don't achieve my goal, I should still be better off than where I started. And that's why I call my fitness blog Progress, Not Perfection.
I firmly believe that fitness and well being is a journey. I love strength training and running. I tend to eat clean, and I'm currently practicing flexible dieting (IIFYM)!
